Phonics and Reading Programme

Can your child read independently at 6 years old? 94% of our pupils are able to after joining out effective programme devised by our early childhood trainers.

Phonics is our early literacy programme that caters to young minds. Through the use of sound blending, your child will learn to read from the use of blending of sounds, not solely from visual recognition or memory.

 

 

Level 1: Beginners (Learning the sounds of the alphabets and consonants.)

Level 2: Intermediate (Learning of the blending of sounds/syllable to form words.)

Level 3: Advance (Learning to read with comprehension & Oratorical Confident Skills - stage/group reading)

 

 



Hanyu Pinyin (汉语拼音)

The use of Hanyu Pinyin  in the learning of Chinese has been established by MOE and is currently taught and used in all primary schools.

In Accendo Learners' Hub's Hanyu Pinyin programme, we have devised our own systematic learning method by our trained teachers. Having a head start in Hanyu Pinyin will definitely ease your child in the learning of Chinese Language in the formal school curriculum.

 

 P1 Preparatory Classes - English & Mathematics

With a whole host of changes such as Holistic Assessment  in our current school curriculum, we have specially designed our curriculum to equip K2 pupils in two areas - English and Mathematics, for your child's head start to Primary 1 education.

We cover 100 Frequency sight words required by MOE & other components like vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, listening and communication skills (Show & Tell) for English.

As for Mathematics Component, number literacy, number patterns, number bonds, one and two step word problems will be covered.

From our past years' record and feedback, this popular and highly-effective programme will definitely engage our pupils in a structured and fun environment. Importantly, we aim to instil confidence in our pupils as they are starting their Primary One education.

Speech & Drama Programme/Show & Tell

Speech and Drama is to develop and foster self-confidence, clarity in speech, imagination and creativity in children. Children will learn drama skills through a variety of creative and fun activities which includes:

• Reading Aloud
• Dramatisation
• Mime Movement
• Rhyme/Poetry Recitation
• Breathing and Relaxation Exercises

Accendo facilitates pair work and discussion. This not only allows collaborative learning but it makes learning fun and enjoyable.

 

It’s never too early for your child to start reading. Our phonics classes include 3 levels, beginners, intermediate and advance which cater to different type of students depending on their progress.

 

 

Our phonics classes allow children to learn new words independently. No longer dependent on sight-words (by memory!), they will be able to decode words which they have not encountered before in their reading. Thus learning to read is much easier now.

 

 

Fun and exciting reading begins with a strong foundation developed at Accendo. With phonics, students will pick up reading and this in turn will greatly help to improve their vocabulary, grammar and comprehension.
